The municipality as an entrepreneur?

Harry Morskate | 16 Fevrier 2010
It is clear that the commune finds itself in serious financial difficulties. Monsieur HAMIDANI percepteur de la trésorerie de Bédarieux et comptable de la mairie has made that very clear. The Council should quickly make a completely different financial policy to be able to do the needed investments in the infrastcuture in the future.

His conclusion was: the immediate reduction of expenses or increase revenue significantly.

But is this latter option a reel basis? To increase revenues, the municipality has actually to act as an entrepreneur. With the necessary entrepreneurial skills, organization and course hazards. None of the necessary conditions appear to exist.
Evidence of weak entrepreneurship is the organization of the municipality. Therefore, risks incurred are not given the deplorable state of municipal finances.  The scope for increasing taxes is lacking because local taxes are much higher than average. That leaves no choice but to actually cut.

The ruling of the Mayor: "Mayor admits that this is an unquestionable vision but it  must not be ignored the main purpose of political action is to serve and improve  the lives of fellow citizens in the service population."  does not bode well for the infrastructure and the pockets of citizens.
