Advantage?

The integrity of the municipality requires that any appearance of favoritism is avoided.  Our community consists of three villages, where each village should be treated as equally as possible.

In recent years, the situation in Dio and Vernazoubres has much improved and this is a good thing we can be proud of. But in the 'centre' village of Valquières, where the town hall is situated, time seems to stand still, or worse, to entail a gradual degradation.

Thus, at the entrance of Valquières is a ruin. The owner has already had a revonation plan for over 13 years. The owner states, «that the Mayor is working against him.»

On the other side of the village, towards Dio, near the renovated wash house, retaining walls are collapsing. The stones are regularly falling on the road and make the passage dangerous in the dark. The municipality says that they have taken action, but nothing has actually happened.

In Valquières there are several heavily polluted plots. Also, not all houses have a septic tank and so, the raw sewage runs through a pipe into the stream which passes alongside the picnic and relaxation place 'Mont Bari', where children actually play in the wastewater from our village.

Meanwhile the Mayor is busy with the subsidy for the boulodrome (compte-rendu 27/7/2010) but no action on the subject 'subvention Station epuration', 41 800 €. These subsidies - unused within the prescribed time allocated - became unusable on 23/06/2008.

Some residents have alerted the attention of the mayor and the council in the past to these neglects. Unfortunately without any response. In the compte rendu of 26/2/2010, we read: "Mr Viala asks that the Conseil Municipal convenes a meeting on the issue of the village cleanliness."

Given the situation in our village the initiative of Mr Viala is understandable. But then we read: «The Conseil Municipal does not agree to convene a public meeting but will take care that cleanliness be respected in the three villages.» And so it seems that the Mayor and the Conseil Municipal refuse a public debate, and deny the need for better hygiene and aesthetics for Valquières.

And so, nothing happens about these neglects. An important question is why these problems are not addressed? Is it the political 'policy' or ignorance, lack of understanding or disinterest? Or would a possible cause be, that the Mayor, who lives in Valquières, tries to avoid any appearance of favoring Valquières? Then our Mayor and Council are extremely successful in these cases!
